A Historical Timeline
Early Days
The first official men's pole vault world record was recognized by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) in 1912. Since then, the record has been broken numerous times by vaulters from around the world.
Modern Era
In recent years, the men's pole vault world record has been dominated by Armand Duplantis of Sweden. Duplantis broke the record three times in 2020, setting the current mark of 6.18 meters in February 2020.
