Collider spoke to Doug Liman, director of Edge of Tomorrow, who discussed the progress of the long-awaited sequel.

Liman acknowledged that it's the right time to revisit the story, but there's a significant hurdle they need to overcome: the budget. He explained that the original film was made for a smaller amount, which allowed them more creative freedom. However, the sequel will likely require a bigger budget, which could potentially restrict their artistic choices.

Despite the budget concerns, Liman remains enthusiastic about the project and is confident they can find a way to make the sequel happen. He teased that the new film will feature "a lot of the same DNA" as the original but with some "really cool new twists" and "a new way of looking at the time loop concept."
